The free English language sightseeing walking tour of Liepaja
Liepaja Free Tour is a volunteer initiative, organized by local guides who love Liepaja. Our mission is to give a warm welcome to everyone who decides to visit our beautiful city. We do our best to give you high quality service, to engage you during the walking tour and to give you information from history, art and everyday life in Latvia and Liepaja in particular.

Starting time and duration
Tour starts every day at 10 AM from a new concert hall Lielais Dzintars (Liepaja, Radio iela 8)
Tour takes around 2-3 hours, depending on your walking speed and interest. Together we gonna walk around 5 km, so be sure you wear comfortable clothes and shoes for walking.
The tour is free. Tips are voluntary and we will not pressure you to tip. If you enjoy the tour and wish to give a tip we believe it should reflect the quality of the tour and the budget of the traveller.
On our Free Tour we cover all the main attractions in Liepaja:
- Concert hall Lielais Dzintars (Great amber)
- Kurmajas prospect with Liepaja anthem sculptures all along the prospect
- Liepaja history museum
- Swan pound, Big drums, Concert hall “Put, Vejini” and Ghost tree in Liepaja park
- Cakstes square and City hall
- St. Joseph cathedral
- Main market
- St. Anna church
- Pedestrian streets (Tirgonu and Zivju)
- Tzar Peter I house
- Rožu laukums (Rose square) and surroundings including University, shopping mall and Latvian society house
- Holy Trinity church
Meeting place is in front of concert hall Lielais Dzintars (Great Amber), next to white stairs and main entrance.

Look for the guide with badge – Liepaja free walking tours. I’m 2 metres tall, so it will be difficult not to find me.
Tours are in english. Maybe it’s not the absolute gramatically correct English, but I bet – you will get the message.
Tours also could be done in Latvian, Lithuanian and Russian languages on a previous agreement.
There is a possibility order tours to former military base – Karosta. It’s not a walking distance, but place has a rich history and fantastic nature. During that tour you can visit:
- Old fortification systems
- Walk on a northern peer (almost 2 km into the sea)
- Holocaust memorial
- St. Nicholas cathedral
- Beberlini recreation centre
- Karosta prison
- Kalpaka bridge
Karosta tour is not free anymore! But I’m pretty sure, we can find a common price so that everyone stays satisfied!
